Privacy Officer Updates

Privacy Officer Updates are a series of online workshops and training sessions on topics that Privacy Officers tell us they want to know more about.
Presented with a practical focus by Emma Pond (Principal and Director), we keep the numbers small to allow for discussion and questions.

Upcoming Privacy Officer Updates:

Privacy in the Courts – 9 February 2022 (11am-1pm)

Join us for a review of key privacy decisions made by the NZ courts during 2021. Taking a practical approach and with a focus on cases on cases taken under the Privacy Act 2020 in the Human Rights Review Tribunal, we’ll pull out aspects of these decisions that are relevant to Privacy Officers in their day to day roles.

Focus on Access Requests – 22 March 2022 (11am-1pm)

Join us for a focused, in-depth session on responding to requests for personal information made under IPP6 of the Privacy Act 2020. Taking a practical approach, we’ll step you through your agency’s obligations under the Privacy Act, including statutory timeframes, identity verification, transfers and withholding grounds. We’ll also look at access determinations and relevant recent HRRT cases and OPC case notes.
